best treatment for acne scars

In my late 20's I discovered that my acne was caused by bacteria, dirt, and dead skin cells (yes it took me that long to figure it out lol 💁) and not necessarily the chocolate or peanuts I love to indulge in once in a while. With the cause of my acne in mind, I did some research, and I started to exfoliate once a day and use 10% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel in pursuit to getting rid of my acne scars.

I am grateful for my experience with acne. I have learned soo much about my skin and how to take care of my acne prone/oily skin.

I am not out of the woods yet; I am still working on fading years of acne scars. I am exfoliating once a day and using Vitamin C to fade my acne scars. My skin is healing day by day, and it's looking healthy.

If you are looking for natural or home remedies to fade your acne scars, please read on.

1. Honey: Honey has natural antibiotics and antioxidants. It is a potent form of acne scar treatment. To use honey, Wash face and pat dry. Apply a thin layer of honey to your face and leave on for twenty minutes. Wet fingers and massage skin for a minute and rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry.

2. Ice: This method is rather unconventional, but helps to fade acne scar. To use, wrap the ice cube in a clean cloth and use on your acne scar until it starts to feel numb. The ice helps to soothe the inflamed skin.

3. Turmeric: Turmeric has antibacterial and antiseptic properties. It is commonly used in India my the women for beauty purposes. You can make turmeric mask by mixing a teaspoon and half of turmeric, one teaspoon of milk and one teaspoon of honey. Apply to clean face, leave on for ten minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Turmeric may stain so use caution while using.

4. Exfoliate: Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cell on the skin's outermost part. When you exfoliate 2-3 times a week, overtime your scar will begin to fade. Exfoliating is good because it leaves your pores unclogged from the dirt and skin cells leaving you with glowy skin. Exfoliation is one of the best treatment for acne scars.

5. Vitamin C/Lemon: Using lemon juice may not be suitable for people with sensitive skin. To use lemon juice, dilute equal part of lemon juice and water, use a cotton ball to apply to clean face. Leave on your face for 30 minutes and rinse off with water and pat dry. When you search for how to get rid of acne scars, you will most likely find Vitamin C as a good treatment.

If lemon juice is too harsh for your skin, you can opt for an already made Vitamin C cream or serum.

6. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera helps remove dead skin. You can apply aloe vera directly on your acne scar. Aloe Vear is amazing for acne scars. Cut open your aloe lengthwise and extract the gel and apply onto clean face. Leave on for fifteen minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water and pat dry. Try this treatment 2-3 times a day for best results.

7. Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar has many beauty and health benefits. You can use apple cider vinegar to fade your acne scars. It has antibacterial properties, and the malic acids and lactic acids found in the cider vinegar help exfoliate the skin and balance the skin pH.

Mix equal part of apple cider vinegar and water. Use a cotton ball to apply the solution to clean face. Leave on face for 30 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water.
Do this treatment once a day to fade scars quickly.

Important: Use sunscreen SPF 30 daily.

  2. Thanks for this list! Getting rid of my acne scars has been a long-time process for me -.- I guess my problem was the fact that I don't do some of the remedies as often as I should. . .

I love using tea tree skin clearing clay mask from the Body Shop as an exfoliator! Tea Tree seems to be the best product from my face responds to when clearing acne; so hopefully I will have great results for clearing acne scars.

My cousin told me to use tumeric as well! So, I'm definitely going to be giving that a try tonight.

    Thanks for the list :)
